THE KARMA METHOD

What is The KARMA Method?

The KARMA Method is the signature coaching and therapeutic method used by Bespoke Wellness Partners. KARMA was developed by Executive Director and Founder, Limor Weinstein.

When reflecting on her own recovery from anorexia and bulimia, Limor realized that there were specific steps she took to overcome her challenges and lead a healthier, happier life. Working with clients with various challenges, she noticed that when they went through the process of therapy, they went through similar steps in their own individual way. From this personal and professional experience, Limor developed The KARMA Method.

KARMA is a structured five-step program that combines Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), and other therapeutic modalities. KARMA brings the benefits of multiple evidence-based practices into one program.

"KARMA" is an acronym for the five steps in the program. These steps may or may not be followed in linear order. They are:

KNOWLEDGE: Gaining knowledge around the challenge you are facing

ACCEPTANCE: Accepting your current situation for exactly what it is without attempting to change or protest it

RELEASE THE PAST: Letting go of any past experiences or feelings that are hindering you from overcoming your challenge

MAKE MEANING: Finding meaning of life in general and understanding how your current challenge is part of that meaning

ACHIEVE AUTHENTICITY: Bringing all the work together in a way that allows you to live authentically

How Does KARMA Work?

Bespoke uses the KARMA Method in individual and group therapy. The five steps take anywhere from 12-36 weeks to work through with the guidance and support of your therapist. You, your therapist, and fellow group members (if in group therapy) collaboratively work together throughout the entire process. The program is very interactive with many therapeutic activities designed to get you reflecting and working on the goal of that particular step.

Although the method is meant to move from one step to the next, just like any natural process, sometimes it's helpful and necessary to move back and forward to address anything new that might arise. You will complete a pre- and post-assessment of your wellness and the ultimate goal is to increase your scores on this measure by the end of the program.

Why KARMA?

In Limor's professional experience using the KARMA Method, she has seen an average of a 30% increase in her clients' wellness from pre- to post-assessment.

The core approaches used in the KARMA Method (CBT, DBT, and ACT) are all evidence-based and commonly used in psychotherapy practices. They have been shown to effectively improve depression, anxiety, eating disorders, substance use disorders, bipolar disorders, and more (Mayo Clinic, 2019). You and your therapist work and make decisions together and use engaging, thoughtful, and healing activities in order for you to live a happier and healthier life.
